A Brand that Brings History to Life Through Fashion
04.04.2025
One of the undeniable trends of our time is the presence of Ukrainian symbols in clothing. Almost every modern brand today includes patriotic pieces featuring authentic patterns. One such brand is Kyiv-based byMe, which began creating meaningful, history-inspired capsules long before this became mainstream.
The brand was founded by Alina and Dmytro Serdyuk, a couple who launched their venture in 2016. Their goal was to create high-quality clothing that goes beyond prints — clothing with deep cultural and historical significance. According to the designers, even before the full-scale invasion, there were doubts about how customers would respond — would they want to wear pieces with national symbolism? But after the first sold-out drops, they were motivated to grow.
Their range focuses on women's fashion and includes over 10 distinct capsules, each with its own story. The brand’s bestsellers include mesh long sleeves and embroidered shirts. One of the latest releases is the "Yavoriv Toy" collection, dedicated to traditional toys in the shape of horses, flowers, and pinwheels, which were popular in Lviv over 400 years ago. These elements are featured in each garment, with inspiration drawn from the works of artisans Oksana Kohut and Ostap Soika. Drops like these help preserve cultural heritage and remind us of our roots.

Another notable collection is "Berezil", inspired by the theatrical legacy of Les Kurbas. The byMe team didn’t just draw aesthetic inspiration from his work — they conducted a five-month archival study before translating their ideas into garments and accessories. The collection turned out dynamic, seamlessly blending vintage elements with modern trends. Wearing these pieces, you feel connected to something meaningful.

Other collections include drops inspired by the lives and works of Lesya Ukrainka and Taras Shevchenko, as well as Kosiv ceramics and traditional Ukrainian ornaments. You can explore these in more detail on the brand’s website.
byMe positions itself as a conscious and eco-friendly brand, continually seeking alternative materials, avoiding genuine leather, and striving to protect animals and the environment — all while maintaining premium quality.
The brand also runs its own charitable initiatives and actively supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine, being an official supporter of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade. Designer Alina also serves as an ambassador for the ZemlyachkyFoundation, which aids women on the front lines.
Today, such support is more vital than ever — and a powerful reason to make a conscious fashion choice.
