Preserving Traditions While Embracing Modernity
15.02.2025
Today, we will talk about uniqueness and respect for historical ornaments— about meaningful clothing from Ukrainian designer and fashion creator Vita Kin.
Before founding her brand, she worked in photography, with her works published in the country’s most renowned glossy magazines. Initially, Vita created clothing for herself, but her passion for culture led her to establish her own brand, Vita Kin, in 2008. It has since become synonymous with a contemporary interpretation of ethnic embroidery rooted in deep historical traditions.

The brand’s aesthetic is inspired by antique Ukrainian embroidered garments, appliqué techniques, and designs collected from different corners of the world. It focuses on high-quality materials (primarily linen), a conscious approach to every detail, the preservation of traditions, and bold experimentation with silhouettes. This makes each piece a true work of art. All garments are handcrafted by Vita’s team in Kyiv using traditional techniques.
The brand quickly gained recognition beyond Ukraine. Thanks to the exquisite design of embroidered dresses and shirts, it caught the attention of leading fashion publications such as Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and others. In 2015, The Wall Street Journal named Vita Kin’s embroidered dresses the most popular dresses of the year. The brand has been worn by global stars such as Adele, Demi Moore, Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and many more. Vita Kin continues to expand and now has boutiques in Ukraine, Paris, London, Tokyo, and New York.
One of the brand’s most significant milestone was the creation of an exclusive collection for Gucci in 2022. The collaboration featured ten garments inspired by 1970s silhouettes, including embroidered dresses, shirts, skirts, and capes adorned with traditional Ukrainian motifs, all entirely handcrafted.
Beyond promoting Ukraine’s cultural heritage, Vita Kin’s work showcases its resilience and strength.
